Thumpi saw a sparrow today as i sat in the passenger seat of my car. i see it as it cartwheels gracefully through the air, a drunk dancer made of air and feathers. i see it as it drops out of sight, falling to the black, the black of road and the black of tires. and i hear it Hit the car. i hear a loud abrupt resounding Thump. and then it is gone, one less noisy, chirping sparrow. i glance at the road behind us as we continue on at eighty miles an hour. i see no trace but still, i think:Thump
